Some CREW History
Our Changing Community and how CREW fits in.
BOD election 2023. Three candidates ran for two open positions on the Board. Those candidates not only won for themselves, but for the entire community to continue with the success of SCOV. Residents have various opportunities (forums, video interviews, neighborhood, coffees, etc.) to learn about all BOD candidates and choose the best qualified to continue with the prosperity of our community.
During the fall of 2023, a few residents who were overwhelmed by the years of polarity and division within SCOV, met to talk about how to be more positive, how to respond to misinformation, and how to tamp down the vitriol. They were looking for residents who were civil, respectful, and would use social media for factual information or uplifting posts. From this seedling, CREW (Civility, Respect, Engagement and Well-Being) began. The idea became contagious and the CREW philosophy was welcomed by other residents.
CREW leadership disseminates factual information and clarifies and corrects misinformation, balancing the scales with facts, not fears. CREW encourages residents to attend BOD meetings, BOD chats, and support the Board and Administration.
BOD election 2024. Four candidates ran for two open positions on the Board. CREW’s function is not to select candidates for office, but rather review the BOD candidates and endorse the two who we believed would best serve our entire community. CREW supporters hosted coffees giving these candidates wide exposure to other residents. CREW used social media to post positivity and uplifting information. Residents who believe in the CREW philosophy are respectful and attend Board and committee meetings to learn more and more about what goes on in SCOV. Residents elected our endorsed candidates to act on the behalf of all SCOV residents, not having an agenda or serving a select few, but rather to make decisions that are best suited for our Association.
Election 2025. Each election cycle, residents decide they want to continue with the successes of SCOV and run for the Board. This year, six candidates ran for three open positions on the Board. Three candidates were supported by CREW and won, because those who voted for them believed that they will continue with the success and positive future of SCOV.
CREW is not a club nor is it platform to openly debate with residents who question its legitimacy. It is open to residents who accept and practice our civil and respectful philosophy. Without CREW correcting the misinformation and false accusations of others, rumors would continue to spread unchecked and paint a distorted picture of SCOV.
